Continuous Rotary Extrusion

The continuous rotary extrusion process

Continuous rotary extrusion allows production of solid and tube products.

These include general purpose round, rectangular or square tubes usually for use in the refrigerator or redraw industries. The second type are multivoid and micro multivoid tubes used in the manufacture of air conditioning heat exchangers for the motor and refrigeration industries. In all cases the products exhibit highly consistent properties along their entire length.

Aluminium and alloy sections that are extruded include:

  • Tubes for refrigerators

  • Single and multiport tubes for radiators and air conditioning units.

  • Round and shaped electrical conductors for power cables. An optional cable insulating machine can be integrated with the line for single stage production of insutated cable.

  • Strip for motors, transformers, busbar, lighting conductors, etc.

  • Master alloys - grain refining rod (in-line with continuous caster).

  • Fibre optic and CATV sheathing.

  • Aluminium clad steel wire.

  • Profiles for many other applications.

Copper sections that are extruded include:

  • Magnet wire

  • Strip for transformers, busbar, lightning conductors, etc

  • Cu clad steel wire

  • Profiles for many other applications.

Continuous Rotary Extrusion Line

The Meltech-Confex continuous rotary process will extrude for as long as metal is fed into the groove - limited oly by tooling life. Unlike conventional extrusion that can only produce discreet lengths, continuous rotary extrusion is possible using automated, take-up, coiling systems.

Making the most of continuous production, however, relies heavily on integration of the pre and post-extrusion equipment. Many manufacturers are now focusing on tightly integrating these pre and post processing elements to achieve complete control of the tube production line.
